My studio sits in the Appalachian mountains, not far from Grandfather Mountain. I’ve worked with their staff before on fundraisers and taught a class or two at their facility on wildlife sketching. Kim and I also take the kids there a few times a year to see the black bears, elk and other wildlife, not to mention some of the most breathtaking views in western North Carolina. It’s an awesome place, and this painting “Black and Blue” shows a black bear stand tall with the profile of Grandfather Mountain on the horizon.
