Wild Turkey, 32" x 20" Oil on Canvas
I'm always amazed by the sight of the huge moss-covered oak trees that dot the pastures of the deep South. Spanish moss lights up in the morning and evening when the sun is low and has a really great luminous effect on its surroundings. Just sitting underneath one of these large oaks has a calming effect on you. It makes you want to slow down, move to the rhythm of the Old South, and simply enjoy the sunset. Similarly, I wanted this scene to represent that same tranquil feeling. These birds don't have a care in the world, calmly feeding underneath the warm glow of a giant oak as the boss bird struts to the rhythm of Spanish moss blowing in the breeze.
