Alaskan Moose, 34" x 28" Oil on Canvas

This scene is taken from a moose hunt on the Hogatza (Hog) River in Alaska. We hadn't seen a single moose that day and were admiring a pair of large moose sheds my buddy Ed had just found when I looked across the river and saw this scene. I could just picture a large bull crossing the river here, so I snapped some quick photos for reference. Upon returning to the lower 48, I executed the painting in my studio.

I was fascinated by how far these moose will travel in search of cows. This big bull has just dropped off the river bank and is on a mission to find some cows on the other side.
