Mourning Doves, Three 12" x 18" Panels, Oil on Board

“Nothing makes a great southern hunting scene like a group of fast flying, dipping and diving doves.”

Dove season is a holiday in the south, and nothing makes a great southern hunting scene like a group of fast-flying, dipping and diving mourning doves. I wanted to set this piece up differently than standard horizontal canvas, so I painted the scene across three panels to create a triptych. I imagined this piece as hanging in an entryway or foyer with a table underneath, making the perfect, unique statement in a southern sporting home.
