Mourning Doves, 24" x 16", Oil on Board

Each year we eagerly anticipate opening day of dove season in September. It's a Saturday afternoon full of laughs, spent shells, and beautiful scenery illuminated by a late summer sunset. Flying doves are some of the most agile and beautiful birds to fly our skies. I love taking a group and painting them mid-flight against a backdrop of sunlit clouds and pines. It's the perfect scene to kick off another fall hunting season.
