Description
In the South, the opening day of mourning dove season is typically the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, hence the title "Labor of Love."
I took a series of photos of my buddy Will's lab making a retrieve. Since I'm an amateur photographer, only a couple of the photos turned out in focus, one of which was a pose similar to this. I reworked the position of the dove and a few minor details, then set to work painting this small 14" x 11" oil on board. I felt it does a good job conveying the warmth of a September evening watching a dog work in a cow pasture.
